RESEARCH PROJECTS AND INTERESTS
Most recently I have been involved in the Ecosystem Health Monitoring Program of Moreton Bay and its River Estuaries which is a project undertaken by the Cooperative Research Centre for Coastal Zone, Estuary & Waterway Management.
I have been a student and post-doc with the Marine Botany Group at The University of Queensland which has been instrumental in the development of monitoring tools such as d15N signatures, amino acid metabolic profiling, phytoplankton bioassays and PAM fluorescence techniques to better assess ecological health. My research interests include biomonitoring and ecological health in marine environments, especially the effects of sewage, aquaculture and non-point source discharges in river plumes.
More generally I am interested in:
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
During my PhD and postdoctoral research I have been involved in several projects monitoring the ecosystem health in marine, estuarine and freshwater systems. In most cases I was responsible for writing the initial proposals, including the development of project budgets. I was responsible for all aspects of the sampling design and implementation, data interpretation and analysis and report writing.
I have been a reviewer of scientific papers for the journals, Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science, and the Journal of World Aquaculture Society.
